Johnny J. Conley, Program Director II, Student Success and Equity, Moorpark College
Describe your position in a few sentences:
Serving as the Director of Student Success and Equity since 2016 at Moorpark College, I lead, plan and integrate academic and student support service programs for our disproportionately impacted (DI) students, those who haven鈥檛 had access to key resources supporting their academic success. In my role, I provide leadership and supervision of our college鈥檚 Student Equity and Achievement plan (SEA), College Promise program (AB 19), Students of Color initiatives, Men of Color initiatives, the Veteran鈥檚 Resource Center, Foster Youth and DREAMers programs, as well as our Basic Needs Center 鈥淩aider Central.鈥
In addition, I assist with outreach and retention efforts among our DI students and oversee federal, state and categorical funding.
How long have you worked for the District?
I have been with the District since November 2016.
Are you a 香港六合彩资料论坛 alum? If yes, which college?
I am not a 香港六合彩资料论坛 alum; however, I value the education community colleges provide to students.
When you鈥檙e not working, what do you enjoy doing?
I enjoy spending quality time with my wife, Maya, my three children: Dean, Troy and Kamila and our dog, Nitro.
What do you find rewarding about your job or career?
The most rewarding part of my career is the relationships that are fostered with our students, especially our disproportionately impacted students. At the beginning of the fall, spring or summer semester, I observe our student veterans, students of color, foster youth and/or Dreamers start their educational journey at Moorpark College, and two to three years later, I see them graduate and reach one of many of their personal goals, which reminds me why I love the work I do.
Do you do any volunteer work? If so, what?
I am a volunteer soccer coach for both of my sons鈥 team. I love coaching and being around sports; seeing my boys and the other kids learn to develop their confidence and compete athletically is personally fulfilling.
